Crossover N-800-D & Value

Hi,

Recently there was an Altec N-800-D Crossover sold on Ebay for $500 Cdn.

If these older units have capacitors that likely need to be replaced, why would they sell for such a significant amount?

I was exploring several alternatives. The first involved upgrading the capacitors on the original networks or alternatively building completely new networks and selling the originals.

The latter appears to be the better route and I'm thinking about Solen coils for the LF & HF. For capacitors Jensen PIO for the HF and Audiocap on the LF.

Its hard to find a conclusive statement from the archives on the best reasonably priced caps for alnico Altecs. In addition its also difficult to buy a single cap with the value that you need.
